Modern Game
General Description: Large
(2.25kg-4.1kg) Bantam
(450g-620g)
These birds were developed following the banning
of cock fighting in 1849, when a purely exhibition bird was bred. Points that
are considered faults in the Old English Game were exaggerated to produce
elegant birds with long stilty legs, small narrow tail an upright stance and
snaky head. They are not good layers, but it is said their meat is of a very
high quality. This presumably refers to the rarely seen large version. The
bantam variety is the most commonly seen. There are 13 standard colours.
Main Colours:
Gold Duckwing; Silver Duckwing; Birchen; Blue; Pyle; Black red; Brown red; Black;
White; Wheaten; Blue red; Silver blue; Lemon blue.
