Friesian

General Description: Large (1.2Kg-1.6Kg)  Bantam (450g-650g)
A very old Dutch breed renowned for its egg laying capabilities. They supposedly originated on the Friesian islands where remains over 1000 years old have been found. They are relative new-comers in this country and were only admitted to the breed standards in 1997. They are the only birds to be found with the chamois pencilled colouring, though other colours are available. They are very light birds, so not very good for meat, but are excellent layers at around 230 eggs per year. Economical and easy to keep.

Main Colours:
Gold Pencilled, Silver Pencilled and Chamois Pencilled
