e-chickens  Family History
The Gold Partridge Dutch was our first 'real' breed of chicken. On the basis of 'you only get good stock from good stock' we purchased a trio from one of the members of Colchester Poultry Club who was known to do well in Shows with his birds. Since this left him with a spare cockerel we had that as well.
So our initial two pairs Alexander & Amanda, and Abraham & Abigail were set up in our garden in November 2000.
In order to make these into Trios we arranged to buy two females at the impending Federation Show (Annabel & Anita), but while there we also purchased a quartet (Angus, Amber, Amy & Angela). So we now had 3 trios of Gold Dutch.
We bred every possible combination of these birds to see what traits we would get - we got a lot of chickens!
However by putting lots in the local shows we gradually determined which were the best and why.
The net result was that we found out which ones to breed our future lines from. Below is our best result so far.

The Pedigree of one of our Champions:-

Chick Parents Grandparents Angus and Amber were never entered in Shows, but Bruce has received 1st, 2nd & 3rd in 3 local shows, and Abigail has received 1st, and three 2nd's out of 5 local shows. We have 5 resulting offspring of this pair at present. Two have already been placed at shows, and Charity above has had two 1st and a 3rd at the three shows she has been in, and also Best True Bantam in the last two. Her sister Celia also has had a 1st & two 3rd, gaining Best Dutch on her debut.
