Barnevelder
General Description: Large
Fowl (2.7Kg-3.6Kg) Bantam
(740g-910g)
A large fowl from
Barneveld in Holland where they created a true utility bird which laid brown
eggs. The early birds had somewhat variable plumage and depth of egg colour has
suffered more recently as improvements were made to its appearance. They are now
most attractive birds with lovely dispositions, seeming to have kept all the
best points of their ancestors. They are large birds and need plenty of space to
prevent them becoming fat and lazy. They
may take up to two years to mature fully..
Main Colours:
Black, Double Laced, Partridge and Silver
