General Description: Large
(2.2Kg-3Kg) Bantam
(510g-790g)
Birds with crests are mentioned as early as 1598
and can be seen in Dutch paintings of the 1700s long before ‘punk’
hairstyles became fashionable. They are good layers, and are much in demand for
their outrageous looks. Although they can see well ahead and down, their
‘pom-pom’ hairdos prevent them seeing around them, so they can be caught
quite easily. The colours tend to be varied and spectacular. A memorable type of
bird.
Main Colours:
Gold, Silver, Chamois, White, Black, Blue.
